Code of Ethics
Effective: 17 June 2026 . Nuvora Impact Private Limited
This Code of Ethics sets out the principles that govern how Nuvora Impact conducts its work with clients, communities, funders and the evidence we help produce. It is not a compliance document. It is a statement of the standards we hold ourselves to and expect our collaborators to share.
01 Evidence integrity
We do not produce evidence to confirm what a client already wants to hear. Our findings reflect what the data actually shows, including where results are mixed, inconclusive, or unflattering. We communicate uncertainty honestly rather than smoothing it over in reporting.
We will decline or renegotiate an engagement if we are asked to frame, omit, or present findings in ways that misrepresent the reality of what we found.
02 Research done with communities, not on them
We design research with the participation of the people it concerns, not as a token step but as a genuine input into questions, methods and interpretation. We recognise that communities hold knowledge that no external evaluator can replicate and we build that into how we work.
We do not extract data from communities and walk away. Where possible, we share findings with participants in accessible, usable form and not only with the funders who commissioned the work.
03 Confidentiality and data protection
We treat all client information, programme data and personally identifiable information with strict confidentiality. We collect only what is necessary, store it securely and do not share it without explicit consent unless legally required to do so.
We comply with applicable data protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (India) and where relevant, the UK GDPR. Our full data practices are set out in our Privacy Policy.
04 Independence and conflicts of interest
We disclose any relationship, financial interest, or prior involvement that could reasonably be seen to affect our independence before agreeing to an engagement. Where a genuine conflict exists, we will decline the work or agree on a mitigation approach with the client before proceeding.
We do not accept gifts, hospitality, or incentives from third parties that could influence the conduct or findings of an engagement.
05 Do no harm
We consider the potential impact of our work on the people and communities involved, including unintended consequences before, during and after an engagement. We apply particular care when working with vulnerable groups, including children, people experiencing mental health challenges and communities facing systemic disadvantage.
We will pause, flag, or discontinue work if we identify a risk of harm that cannot be adequately mitigated within the scope of the engagement.
06 Equity and inclusion
We actively work to identify and account for how structural inequity can shape what gets measured, whose voices are centred and what counts as evidence. We do not treat equity as an add-on to otherwise neutral research. We treat it as integral to rigorous practice.
This includes our own team, our subcontractors and how we engage partners and participants in the field.
07 Transparency about limitations
We are honest about what our work can and cannot establish. We do not overstate causal claims, generalise beyond what the evidence supports, or present findings as definitive where the methodology has limitations we have not disclosed.
We document our methods and assumptions clearly enough that an informed reader could assess them independently.
08 Responsible use of AI tools
Where we use AI tools in our work for synthesis, drafting, or analysis, we do so transparently and with human oversight at every stage that affects findings or recommendations. We do not use AI to generate data, fabricate sources, or produce outputs that misrepresent the basis of our conclusions.
We apply particular scrutiny to AI use in contexts involving marginalised communities, where model biases are well-documented and the stakes of misrepresentation are high.
09 Professional conduct
We engage with clients, partners, participants and peers with honesty, respect and care. We do not make commitments we cannot keep and we communicate proactively when circumstances change that affect our ability to deliver.
We expect the same standards from any subcontractors or collaborators working on Nuvora-led engagements.
10 Accountability
If you believe we have fallen short of the standards set out in this Code, we want to know. You can reach us at connect@nuvoraimpact.com. We commit to responding within five working days and handling all concerns with seriousness and discretion.
A note on how this document lives. This Code of Ethics is a working document, not a fixed artefact. We review and update it as our practice evolves, as we learn from the communities we work with and as the broader field changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
